FAQs
What does hands on labor assistance include?
1
Hands-on labor support is focused on your comfort, confidence, and preferences. After learning your birth preferences, I use them to guide support throughout labor using comfort measures like massage, counterpressure, position changes, breathing guidance, and reassurance. I also help you and your partner advocate for your needs and work collaboratively with your care team to support the best possible outcome for you and your baby.
What do the postpartum support hours include?
2
Postpartum support focuses on recovery, adjustment, and easing the transition into life with a new baby. Support hours may include infant care assistance, feeding support, recovery support for the birthing parent, emotional check-ins, light household support, helping establish routines, and answering questions as they come up. The goal is for you to feel supported, rested, and confident as you recover and adjust.
When should I hire a doula?
3
Ideally, many families choose to hire a doula early in pregnancy so there is time to build a strong connection, receive ongoing education and support, and spread payments out in a more budget-friendly way. Hiring early also allows your doula to be fully integrated into your planning, preparation, and decision-making process.
That said, it is never “too late” to hire a doula. Whether you are late in pregnancy or already postpartum, support can still be incredibly valuable. If you’re seeking guidance, reassurance, and experienced support, a doula can meet you where you are and provide meaningful care at any stage.
Do you only support unmedicated births?
4
No! I’ve supported all types of births! My role is never to push a specific type of birth, but to support your informed preferences. Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, or something in between, my focus is on helping you feel prepared, supported, and respected throughout the process.
